Now more than ever I have been trying hard to watch the words that I say. Too many times things can be mistaken, twisted, misunderstood or misused. Things you say can appear that you have taken "sides" or are seeing things from only one viewpoint.
I try to be unbiased- neutral, but the truth is we are all tainted and view things from our own unique and different perspectives, opinions and experiences. A handful of people can all view the same exact event but describe it entirely different.
How can you explain to a lost and broken world- a world we aren't made or meant for- that you hurt with them? And that you want to show them that there is a better way, there is a way to have light shine onto their dark and lost path. That there is a Great Lover of their soul. A God that has never stopped loving them because He never even started loving them, because HE IS LOVE.
I wrestle, fight, fear and struggle. And I hurt and grieve too. I can see both "sides" and no matter which one you are on; hate, fear and revenge are never the answer.
What do we do? We need to Pray, Pray, Pray, and Point, Point, Point to God. And watch what you say, because others are listening and watching you. We need to be careful of how we portray God to the world. It's not that we need God now more than ever, we have always needed Him and always will need Him. How often are we watering down the truth of who God is? In a world of constant change, turmoil and instant communication, God is unchanging, and His plan is always in effect. He is always working things for our good, but in His time, not ours.
If you don't know what to say- don't say anything or quote scripture, prayerfully seeking the right verses to quote. And never give an immediate response. If you don't know what to say when asked or told something in person, be honest and tell the person that you don't know how to respond and have to consider it first.
God is continually showing me how I need to be careful with my words and how I am portraying Him to others. So I am not at all saying that I have all the answers. I just know that you can never go wrong with prayer and God's word filling you up and pouring out of you.
Be cautious be careful. But be bold and stand firm when speaking the truth in love.
